We Can Do It All
Adams PPS aims to assist you, the self-builder/client, from project concept to completion. Our main services are as listed.
For most clients, seeing their ideas turned into an actual drawing is one of the most exciting parts of the design process. For us, it’s probably the most important.
We will take your lists of ‘must-haves’ and ‘nice-to-haves’ and, being mindful of your budget, create your initial design sketches.
Understanding your requirements at these early stages, can be the key to a successful project.
Many projects fail simply because of bad budgeting. Understanding your budget and method of build is the key to designing the right property for you.
pre-planning design & advice
Planning policies differ widely between individual local authorities. We work regularly with all of the local authorities throughout the South West and beyond. Accordingly, we can offer initial advice on the likelihood of planning being granted.
We also offer a pre-planning submission service and advise on this as part of our full planning application service.
From new builds to extensions, conversions to renovations, planning conditions to appeals, we handle all types of planning applications for our clients. We pride ourselves in making this stage of your project as smooth and stress free as possible.
Building regulations applications
In most cases, your project will require building regulation approval. This is possibly the most detailed element of the design process and will usually include: construction details, thermal calculations, structural calculations etc.
structural warranties & insurances
Most new houses will have a structural warranty which protects the home owner against ground movement, damage and defects for a period of 10 years. Choosing the right structural warranty and site insurance is an important part of the self-build process. We offer our clients advise and assistance in this area and point you in the direction for specific advice.
Choosing a correct route for your build
With so many construction methods, build routes and materials to choose from, this can be a daunting decision. By listening and understanding our clients needs, we can advise them on the most appropriate route for the new build of their home. Understanding what is the right route for our clients will ensure cohesiveness between the design and construction.
Timber frame / sip sourcing
A large proportion of self builders choose a timber frame as the main structural element for their new home. As the South-West agents for Potton Ltd. – one of the most recognised timber frame manufacturers and self-build companies – we are experts in the design of timber frame and SIP (structurally insulated panels) homes.
project management & tendering
Finding, hiring and organising of trades is not for everyone. We offer our clients a wide range of management services from tendering and trade sourcing through to full project management.
finding the right builder for your project
Working with partners we can offer a full design and build package for our clients. We pride ourselves on the quality of our homes and by working with builders who understand what it is to self-build, we offer a seamless service from start to finish.
With many Local Authorities declaring a climate emergency, the use of renewable technologies on new homes will become more and more the norm in the future. Whether you are considering a Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP), an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP), biomass boiler, solar thermal panels or photovoltaic cells, we will assess the energy requirements required for your new home and advise accordingly.
If You Already Have Planning Permission..
design review service
For those already with planning permission in place, sometimes all a project needs are a fresh pair of eyes to take it from good to great. We can offer advice on modifications to the proposed design to improve the actual design or to save you money should your budget already be stretched.
