For most clients, seeing their ideas turned into an actual drawing is one of the most exciting parts of the design process. For us, it’s probably the most important. We will take your ideas, create an initial concept and present you with a first look at what could potentially be your new home.

PROJECT BUDGETING

Many projects fail simply because of bad budgeting. Understanding your budget and method of the build is the key to designing the right size and style of home for you. As part of our initial meeting, we will help you establish what you can build for your budget and other areas of the cost you may not have considered.

PRE-PLANNING ENQUIRIES

Planning Policy differs widely between individual local authorities and most are under constant review. It can therefore be unclear if a planning proposal will be received positively by the Local Authority in question. We will actively engage with the Local Authority, prior to a formal submission being made.

PLANNING APPLICATIONS

From new builds to extensions, conversions to renovations, planning conditions to appeals, we handle all types of planning applications for our clients. We pride ourselves in making this stage of your project as smooth and stress-free as possible.

DESIGN REVIEW SERVICE

For those already with planning permission in place, sometimes all a project needs are a fresh pair of eyes to take it from good to great. We can offer advice on modifications to the proposed design to improve the actual design or to save you money should your budget already be stretched.

BUILDING REGULATIONS

In most cases, your project will require building regulation approval. This is possibly the most detailed element of the design process. We can provide a full building regulations package tailored to your specific build and, working with our partners, including both SAP calculations and structural engineering.

With so many construction methods, build routes and materials to choose from, this can be a daunting decision. By listening to our clients and understanding their needs, we can advise them on the most appropriate route for the new build of their home.

DESIGN AND BUILD

Working with our build partners throughout the southwest, we can take you through the whole process from initial concept designs through to completion of your new home. This is a popular route for many of our clients as, not only do we take care of everything from start to finish, we also provide a fixed priced contract at the start of the project.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Finding, hiring and organising of trades is not for everyone. We offer our clients a wide range of management services from tendering and trade sourcing through to full project management. We can provide a detailed specification, project documentation and price checking to assist you with the build of your new home.

TIMBER FRAME / SIP SOURCING

A large proportion of self-builders choose a timber frame as the main structural element for their new home. We are experts in the design of timber frame and SIP (structurally insulated panels) homes and are proud to be the South-West representatives for Potton, the countries leading timber frame and self-build specialists.

 

RENEWABLE TECHNOLOGIES

With many Local Authorities declaring a climate emergency, the use of renewable technologies on new homes will become more and more normal in the future. Many local authorities already require new homes to exceed current building regulation standards. We offer unbiased advice on all renewable technologies to all our clients.

WARRANTIES & INSURANCES

Most new houses will have a structural warranty that protects the homeowner against the ground movement, damage and defects for a period of 10 years. Choosing the right structural warranty and site insurance is an important part of the self-build process and one which we are happy to assist with.
