About This Build

David & Lesley first met Sean at one of the self-build exhibitions in the South West. They had recently purchased a small bungalow in a stunning plot in a wooded residential area just outside of Southampton. The area was covered by specific planning policies which restricted the size and design of any replacement dwelling and the clients had already engaged in protracted discussions with the Local Authority.

They had clear ideas of what they wanted included in their design which included an open plan ground floor layout, an impressive entrance hall with a ‘wow-factor’ staircase and a master bedroom with a balcony. Surrounding the house, they wanted a large decking for the hotter seasons. The difficulty was producing a design that not only met these requirements but would be acceptable to the Local Authority.

Following the initial meeting, Sean produced the initial sketches that brought their ideas to life. The finished drawings went above and beyond what the couple were imagining and these were submitted for planning. The design was not only approved by the planners, but was also commented on how much they liked the design. They even requested an additional balcony be added.
