About This Build

Mr McMillan and Dr Jones had a vision to build a traditional styled but modern home on land adjacent to their current home which had spectacular views of the surrounding Gloucestershire countryside. They came to us with extant planning permission, however the design did not meet their requirements nor took advantage of the stunning views or worked with the existing levels on site.

One of the main challenges within the build were the existing levels and site access so the new design needed to work with these constraints and yet not feel constrained by them. We hope you would agree that we successfully overcame this issue and made the most out of the tricky site.

With a blend of horizontal Cedral cladding, natural roof slate and natural coloured render to the retaining walls and garage we managed to create a modern yet traditional styled home. The African inspired stoep to the front of the house allows the clients to soak up the beautiful views surrounding their property from the moment they step outside. A vaulted living area with large areas of glass and dormer windows with balconies to the first floor bedrooms further emphasises the beauty of this home. Another eye-catching feature of this home is the subterranean garage with patio area on the roof. This whole area was designed to work with the existing levels of the site and allowed us to achieve a gorgeous reflection of the clients wishes.
